Contrasting with its freshness, of orchards in bloom, fruits, flowers and fragrances suffusing everything, a lightness is in the air with cottages built with ancient techniques but modern tastes. Combined with a stay at the Stok Palace, Chulli Bagh offers the complete and inclusive experience of Ladakh.
Set amidst old apricot (Chulli in Ladakhi), walnut and willow trees, guests can enjoy apricot blossoms in the month of April, mesmerising autumn colours in October, a quaint dinner setting with wood-fire under a star studded sky, or experience the ethereal moon light lying on the hammocks, nature at its best. These villas are at a 7-10 minute walk from the palace.
The orchard houses only three villas for the discerning traveller and ultimate privacy. Each villa has been hand built with traditional natural materials such as wood and mud but most importantly love. Each villa comprises of two cosy, private bedrooms that open into a common open plan sitting area with views of the orchards and surreal surrounding environs and includes a well appointed kitchenette as well.
Please note that we do not have WiFi, TVs, air-conditioning or intercoms in our rooms. We also discourage the use of plastic and hence are reluctant to provide plastic packaged drinking water to out guests. We do instead have drinking water available in glass bottles which is completely without charge.
